Mr. Coffee Café Barista – Designs and Features
Design
Being honest if you think that Café Braista would be made of luxurious materials or unmatchable industrial designs – there is nothing like that. Also, it won’t grab your eye balls as the chrome-plated and European looking De’Longhi Dedica does.
But one thing I can say about Mr. Coffee BVMC-ECMP1000 Café Barista Espresso is – its attractive enough to enhance the beauty of your kitchen counters.
12.4 inches tall by 10.4 inches wide and 8.9 inches deep, the Cafe Barista doesn’t need much space on your kitchen counter. However, it’s bit larger than other cheaper Mr. Coffee pump espresso makers. Comparing to De’Longhi Dedica, the Café Barista is small.
The special reservoir for milk is the reason behind Café Barista’s increase girth. The milk tank is removable as well as features an in-built wand for steaming while brewing that can be stored in the fridge for the next time use.
Similar to other home espresso machines, Barista comes with a portafilter that can be use for both purpose brewing shots as well as loading the machine with grounds.
Keep in mind you must lock metal filter tightly under the Café Barista’s brew head. The unit is also contains two filter baskets one for single shot and other for double shot.
One-Touch Control Panel
Café Barista comes with one-touch control panel that allows you to choose from a single – or double shot of espresso, cappuccino, or latte.
Indicators for automatic drink-making modes are left side, whereas on the right you’ll see the labels for manual functions.
If you want brew a single shot press the ESPRESSO button once – otherwise push the button twice and it will queues for the double shot. Holding the button for 3 seconds sets the machine for custom-brewing and start pushing water through the filter till you press the button again.
The other buttons labeled “CAPPUCCINO” and “LATTE” works the same way besides that long press features for manual forthing or cleaning the steam wand.
Apart from these features, there is a milk forther that adjust the foam level in the milk you steam.
Performance
If we talk about pulling straight espresso shots, the Mr. Coffee BVMC-ECMP1000 Café Barista Espresso provides mixed results. I was easily able to get the flavor with the machine which I was looking for. First shot was delicious and tasted good with few chocolate notes.
To check the effectiveness of my espresso, I prepared some more shots and checked the total dissolved solids in the coffee using Refractometer. I noticed the TDS percentage was around 10.1%. However, it is good percentage for an average espresso but to get the ideal extract of 20%, the TDS amount should be somewhere near to 14%.
In the final analysis, the Café Barista isn’t good when brewing lightly roasted beans. To test that I used freshly roasted Quills Espresso coffee beans, but the coffee maker couldn’t take out the complete flavors.
In short, Café Barista couldn’t differentiate itself from other cheaper espresso makers. But it’s also true that Café Barista can make drinkable frothed milk and coffee mixtures within few seconds.

Should You Buy The Mr. Coffee Café Barista?
After reading my Mr. Coffee BVMC-ECMP1000 Café Barista Espresso review, you might be thinking should you buy this coffee machine or not?
So, here I make it simple to you, in the luxurious world of espresso makers where espresso machines’ price can go from $150 to $2500+, you can’t expect too much from little investment of $150.
Still, if all you need a strong coffee with sweet steamed milk and for a reasonable price, then the $200 Mr. Coffee BVMC-ECMP1000 Café Barista Espresso isn’t a bad deal. The machine is good for those who hate their hands get dirty frothing milk or pulling shots manually.
Spending an extra $100 for a better coffee machine such as De’Longhi Dedica wouldn’t be bad choice. Dedica isn’t only better espresso machine than Café Barista but also stylish, smaller, steam milks in only 40 seconds.
Still, as you know it’s a Poorman’s espresso machine, therefore it’s a great deal for those who want to buy their first espresso maker.
